GAMI and Tawazun Sign MoU

The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) and UAE’s Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun) signed an MoU today at IDEX 2021with the aim of enhancing the cooperation between the two countries. Also, these MoUs build solid partnerships that help achieve strategic objectives, optimize capabilities, identify opportunities for cooperation on projects, define working mechanisms to execute such projects, and align on R&D initiatives.

 

The MoU, was signed at the Tawazun Pavilion by H.E. GAMI Governor Ahmad Al-Ohali, and Tawazun Secretary General H.E. Jasim Al-Zaabi. Also present were Tawazun CEO H.E. Tariq Al-Hosani and representatives from both entities.

 

Al-Ohali stated that such cooperation is a continuation of the bilateral relations between the two nations, and working together on issues of common interest

 

Al-Ohali also mentioned that the signing creates accelerators for successful collaboration to implement the Economic Offset Program (EOP). Moreover, the countries of the GCC have enormous potential for sustainable defense industrialization, and have strong relations with allies with great defense capabilities. This achieves the mutual interests of localizing technology, establishing military industrialization, and keeping up with the Sector’s incredible pace.

 

In turn, Al-Zaabi stated that the MoU builds on the already strong strategic relations between the two countries established by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud andHH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE.

 

 

Al-Zaabi went on to explain how the MoU establishes a new era of collaboration between the two countries in R&D, Transfer of Technology, attracting foreign investment, creating joint ventures in defense, as well as other relevant defense areas. Al-Zaabi stated that Tawazun, leveraging its great expertise and national competencies, contributes tremendously to the development of a sustainable defense sector in the UAE..

 

Al-Zaabi added that the UAE has also experienced success with the EOP, which has proven to be extremely fruitful in the region. The Council, as per Al-Zaabi, is honored to exchange experience with the Kingdom.
